There are two types of Australian Business ETA visa – long validity and short validity.
Both entitle the holder to stay in Australia for up to 3 months on each entry.
Long validity business ETA visa are issued for the life of the holder’s passport. Short validity business ETA visa are valid for up to 12 months or the validity of the holder’s passport, whichever is shorter.

- Attending conferences
- Negotiations
- Exploratory business visits.
The business ETA visa does not include acting or music performance or commercial film making.

*Holders of Taiwan passports can only be processed for an business ETA visa if resident in and applying in Taiwan.
**Holders of UK passports which indicate their nationality to be British National (Overseas) can only be processed for an business ETA visa if resident in and applying in Hong Kong.
Business ETA Visa - Short Validity
Short-stay business visitors to Australia must be willing and able to abide by the business ETA visa validity and conditions while in Australia:
- You must not work in Australia except under very limited circumstances
- You must not engage in any studies or training for more than three months
- You must not take up employment in Australia that can be done by an Australian citizen or resident
- You must be free from tuberculosis at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia
- You must not have any criminal convictions, for which the sentence or sentences (whether served or not) are for a total period of 12 months duration or more, at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia.
If you are at least 11 years of age and intend to undertake non-formal study in a classroom environment for longer than four weeks, you may be required to have a health examination before starting the course.
Business ETA Visa Long Validity
This visa operate on the same conditions as the business ETA visa - Short validity, but have the added benefit of being a multiple entry visa, allowing persons holding this visa to stay in Australia for up to three months on each visit for the life of their passport.
The Business ETA Visa, Long-Validity was designed for persons who make regular business trips to Australia, providing significant savings for anyone who travels to Australia as a matter of routine. However, due to the extra costs that a multiple entry visa requires, there is a higher processing fee for this visa category.
