The Child Visa category is for the natural child, adopted child or stepchild of a sponsor who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
There are a number of visa cathegories, you can apply for:
- Child Visa – this visa is for the adopted, biological and, in limited circumstances, step-child of an Australian citizen, holder of a permanent visa or New Zealand eligible citizen.
- Orphan Relative Visa – this visa is for orphaned relatives of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, where the applicant is aged under 18 years and their parents are deceased, permanently incapacitated or of unknown whereabouts.
- Adoption Visa – this visa is for the adopted child of an Australian citizen, holder of a permanent visa or New Zealand citizen. This visa is only available to applicants who are outside Australia at the time they apply. Adopted children who are inside Australia at the time they apply should explore alternative options.
- Dependent Child Visa – this visa is for the child of a provisional partner visa holder or holder of a subclass 445 visa holder.
