An Australian ETA Visa (Electronic Travel Authority) is for people who wish to visit Australia for short holidays, tourism, recreation, business trips, and informal studies or training.
An ETA visa is equivalent to a visa, but there is no stamp or label in your passport and there is no need for you to visit an Australian visa office to submit an application. This ETA visa is available online 24 hours a day 7 days a week for applicants outside Australia.
An Australian Visitor ETA Visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 3 months on each arrival within 12 months from the date the ETA visa was granted. Tourism includes holidays, recreation and seeing family and/or friends.

*Holders of Taiwan passports can only be processed for an ETA visa if resident in and applying in Taiwan

You must abide by the ETA visa conditions while in Australia:
- must not work whilst in Australia. Limited volunteer work may be acceptable
- must not engage in any studies or training longer than three months
- must be free from tuberculosis at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia
- must not have any criminal convictions, for which the sentence or sentences (whether served or not) are for a total period of 12 months duration or more, at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia
If you are at least 11 years of age and you intend to study in a class-room environment for a period greater than 4 weeks, you may be required to pass a chest x-ray examination before commencing your studies.
