A Visitor (Tourist) Visa to Australia is designed for people who are NOT on the ETA Eligible Country list, or people who wish to visit Australia and stay for up to 12 months.
Visitor Visa allows you to visit Australia for a holiday or recreation, or to visit family and/or friends. This visitor visa to Australia may also be used for other short-term non-work purposes including study for less than 3 months.

You must meet the following requirements to be able to apply for tourist visa to Australia:
- Have a genuine intention to visit Australia
- Have sufficient funds to cover the trip to Australia
- Not be coming for business purposes or medical treatment in Australia
- Meet character and health requirements
You must abide by the visa validity and conditions while in Australia:
- must not work while in Australia. Limited volunteer work may be acceptable
- must not study for more than three months while in Australia
- must depart whithin the validity of the visa
Your Visitor Visa to Australia may be granted with a "No further stay" condition. If this is the case, you will not be granted any other visa (except for a Protection visa) while you remain in Australia. This condition may be waived in exceptional circumstances.
