Family members who wish to migrate to Australia under one of the visa categories outlined below must have sponsorship from a relative in Australia to be eligible.
The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and must be at least 18 years of age.
The term "relative" in all of the below categories refers to:
- Child
- Parent
- Brother or Sister
- Grandparent
- Grandchild
- Aunt or Uncle
- Niece or Nephew
- Step relative of the same degree
Aged Dependent Relative Visa
This visa is for single widowed, divorced or formerly separated relatives who are dependent on an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Carer Visa
This visa is for the relative of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who has a medical condition. They must need your care because they can not care for themselves - either because of illness or mental/ physical disability. This need for personal care must be likely to continue for at least two years.
Remaining Relative Visa
This visa is for people who are the only members of their family left outside Australia, apart from young children.
