Most skilled visas for immigration to Australia require applicants to score a minimum number of points on the Points Test.
The Points Test awards points for:
- Nominated Skilled Occupation
- Age
- English Language
- Specific Work Experience
- Australian Work Experience
- Australian Qualifications
- Regional Australia Study
- Partner Skills
- Nomination by a state or territory government
- Designated Area Sponsorship and
- Designated (Community) Language
The applicable pass and pool marks* for the current GSM subclasses are set out in the table below:

*If you do not achieve the pass mark, the pool mark is the total number of points you must score if your application is to be held in reserve for up to two years after it is assessed, in case a newer, lower pass mark is set.
