The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa Subclass 475 is for skilled people who wish to live and work in a regional or low population growth area in Australia.
Living in regional Australia or a low population growth metropolitan area means that Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa holders can live anywhere in Australia except in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, the NSW Central Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne or the ACT.
This visa is a three year provisional visa for skilled workers who are unable to meet the criteria for a Skilled - Independent visa. The current Skilled Regional Sponsored pass mark on the Poins Test is 65 points. There is no reserve pool for this visa.
Skilled – Regional Sponsored visa holders can apply for a permanent Skilled – Regional visa once they have lived for two years and worked full-time for one year in a designated area of Australia.
To be eligible to apply for a Skilled - Regional Sponsored visa, you must meet certain requirements:
- be under 50 years of age
- meet the English language requirement
- have either:
- been employed for 12 out of the last 24 months in an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL), OR
- met the two year study requirement in the last six months with Australian qualifications closely related to the nominated occupation
- nominate an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
- have a suitable skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for the nominated occupation
- meet one of the following two criteria:
- be sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area, OR
- be sponsored by a State/Territory Government
- you and any migrating family members must satisfy health and character requirements
